A Temporary Reprieve

I will be back in a few days or so, when I am finished reading these:

This is one of my very favorite book-sets, read repeatedly throughout my childhood...being over 5,000 miles from home where my battered copies lie, however, left me no recourse but to think wistfully of those familiar characters, the favorite scenes. OR SO I THOUGHT, until nostalgia drove me to price the books on Amazon...I mean, Glamazon.

I didn't realize liking books made you a financial superhero, but it does. The cheapness of old paperbacks made me feel like I had superpowers. I was a wizard, I was powerful. They go for like a penny.
Bwahahahahaha.
Sure, I chose ones with "like new" status, which go for (wait for it) $0.33 -- oh calamity! -- and AK shipping exponentially increased the cost, but guess what? I still got all 3 for under $20. Including. Shipping. This is the most beautiful thing anyone from AK or HI will have ever heard, just for reference to you cosseted mainlanders. It's hard to live in remote paradises, okay?

So I will be back soon, when I have loved these books all up and down, told them how much I missed them, and chased down every person in my house to point out "the good parts" (lit: every part) to them.

  1. Well! Now I am curious about these books, although they don't look my type of book. But when I was a pre-teen, I loved "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeline L'Engle, and the "White Mountains" series by...I forget. So maybe I'd like them?
